Groomer Stories: Galina Reznikov

The groomers here at Clayton Pet Spa are what makes this salon so special. In this week’s groomer story, we want to introduce our readers to Galina Reznikov. She is the newest member of our team, but she has over two decades of grooming experience. Galina says grooming is her passion and she loves sharing it with her clients.

1. How long have you been in the grooming industry?

I have been in the grooming business for 22 years and not one second of it has been boring. This is what really makes this job so unique.

2. How did you get into grooming?

My love for dogs started when I was 19 and had just earned my degree in elementary education. I was working part time as a dog bather. I had a very rough day so I sat down on a bench outside and began to cry. Then, the usually aggressive and mean dog of the grooming salon owners, ran up to me and out of nowhere began to lick my hands and face. In that moment, a deep connection and inner understanding occurred and from that day I knew this was it. I fell in love with creating something beautiful so that every owner could see a significant difference in their beloved pet. This is my passion and the best reward.

3. What are some of your favorite breeds to work with and why?

I am truly a dog lover, but over the years I have come to appreciate working with poodles. Standard poodles are elegant, smart, and compatible dogs that can also make the best four-legged friends. They are very classy and docile when it comes to grooming which only works to compliment the natural beauty and grace of the breed.

4. If someone is looking to get into the grooming business what advice would you give them?

My first piece of advice is that they must love dogs and cats! Another piece of advice would be to be prepared to dedicate yourself 100%. Grooming is a lifelong dedication that involves the study of the dog’s anatomy, physiology, balance, nutrition, behavior, and grooming techniques.
What is the best part about being a groomer?

The best part of my job is making a connection with every dog and creating a significant difference in your pet’s well-being and beauty.
